Lake Conroe Fishing Report  Updated November 16, 2008

The water is clear and the water level is 200.59 feet.
The San Jacinto River Authority has issued a warning for boaters to watch out for floating debris floating from hurricaine Ike.

Black bass fishing has been good and they can be found in shallow water early and late using small trick worms or Bush Hogs in watermelon or plum. Later in the day they move to deeper water on brush from 12 to 15 feet deep. Carolina rigged soft plastics and deep running crank baits are all working well.

Crappie fishing is slowly picking up with the cooling of the weather. They are back on brush at 12 to 13 feet deep. Minnows seem to be working best but jigs in chatrreuse are also working.

Catfishing is good right now. They can be caught in 18 feet to 30 feet of water on the edge of the river channels and on the creek edges, outer edge of submerged pond dams, brush and baited holes. Also the rocks along the dam and the 1097 bridge are producing well. Catfish Killer Cheese Dip Bait on a #8 treble hook with sponge fished 2 to 3 inches off the bottom is working well. Also, little pieces of peeled shrimp, beef heart or shad on a regular catfish hook dipped in Catfish Killer Cheese Baits in the Original, Blood or Shad Scent are working best for catfish from 1 1/2 to around 5 lbs. Chicken livers are also catching some catfish.

Larger catfish, mostly blues can be caught using fresh shad and or cut beef heart on Catfish Killer`s Flagging Juglines in from 16 to 40 feet of water. Flagging Jugs may be ordered off the website for $5.00 each or you may order from www.texascatfishjuglines.com

Hybrids and white bass are slow but will pick up soon as the shad start schooling. They have been suspended over deep points and drop offs. Trolling on deep points, humps and drop offs with Rat-L-Traps or pet spoons behind deep divers is fair. Vertical jigging can also be good when you find them.

Bream are everywhere with the larger ones down deep with the catfish at about 25 to 30 feet deep. The best baits are Nightcrawlers, Glow Worms or Mighty Mealy worms on a very small hook.
