Big Fish Moving Shallow!
This past weekend I fished with Barbara Baker and her 16 year old grandson Chad. Barbara took Chad on a guided fishing trip for his 16th birthday present. We had a great day! Barbara showed her young grandson how to catch big Bass. She caught a 7 pound Bass and a 8 pound Bass on back to back cast.

November has brought cooler temperatures to Lake Okeechobee, the water temps have dropped 8 to 10 degrees. The big female Bass are starting to move inshore into the shallow marsh areas looking for places to spawn. The shiner fishing bite has responded by getting better as soon as the water cooled, we had our best day on shiners the second morning after the cold front. Catching good numbers of Bass and big fish as well.

Fishing on Lake Okeechobee is heating up, more and more Bass are moving into the newly flooded grassy marshland that surrounds the north end of the lake. The last 2 tournaments held on the lake have taken a 4 pound average to cash a check. The cooler weather has the shad moving and the fish are following close behind, one day the fish will be on the outside edge the next they will be far back in the grass. Wherever the bait goes so go the fish, top water baits, flukes, speed worms, spinner baits and horny toads are all working at times. We have had several days with full cloud cover and the fish really bit, sunny bright days can be a little tougher. We are right around the corner from our first wave of big female spawning Bass moving into spawning areas, the areas that have held Big fish before will come into play once again.
There are many areas where hydrilla, and eel grass are reappearing large numbers of Bass have not taken residence in these areas as of yet but it is only a matter of time.
